About Us

Resonates Well is a Social Enterprise committed to improving student well-being and reducing isolation through the power of gospel choir singing. Founded in 2023, Resonates Well builds on the success and legacy of the University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) by expanding our efforts to support students in new and impactful ways.

 

Our Mission

Our mission at Resonates Well is to create a vibrant and inclusive community where the joy and power of gospel music unite students, inspire personal growth, and foster social well-being. We believe that through the collective experience of choir singing, students can find their voice, connect with others, and nurture their emotional and mental wellness.

 

What We Do

Resonates Well addresses the growing mental health challenges faced by students, particularly the issues of loneliness and social isolation. We do this by offering a range of programs designed to support well-being, community building, and leadership development through gospel music.

Our Key Programs Include:

  • Annual UGCY Competition: We continue to support and expand the UGCY, offering a platform for university gospel choirs across the UK to showcase their talent, build community, and develop leadership skills.
  • The Asaph Program: Our corporate choir initiative designed to bring the benefits of gospel choir singing into the workplace. The Asaph Program enhances team cohesion, bridges generational gaps, and promotes well-being among corporate teams, leveraging the fresh perspectives of university gospel choir students.
  • Well-Being Initiatives: We conduct workshops, music therapy sessions, and other initiatives that use singing as a tool to improve mental health and foster a sense of belonging among students.
  • Leadership Development: Through our choir leadership training programs, we equip current and aspiring student choir leaders with the skills they need to lead effectively, ensuring continuity and succession within student-led choirs.
  • Research & Advocacy: We are committed to conducting research on the impact of gospel music on student well-being and advocating for its inclusion in educational and community settings.
